Your prescreen questions

Q1 Walk us through the last PLC program you wrote from scratch.

Wrote the logic for a new weld cell last spring: Allen-Bradley, about 40 I/O, two robots and a safety PLC. Took it from spec through buyoff in six weeks.

Q2 Have you supported a launch on second or third shift?

Yes, two launches. Covered second shift for about a month on each until the lines hit rate.

Q3 A line goes down at 2 a.m. What do you do first?

Get the line safe, check the HMI alarm history, then call in. Described a recent fault on a conveyor interlock and how he found it.

Q4 Any experience with safety PLCs and risk assessments?

Programmed safety PLCs on the last two projects and sat in on the risk assessments. Not certified yet, but interested.

Recruiter notes

Clear communicator. Explained a complicated retrofit in plain terms without being asked to simplify.

Counteroffer risk: his employer may offer relocation. We talked it through; he's firm on staying in Michigan.
